Finding Apartments For Rent
There are a lot of choices when looking for apartments to rent in this city at any given time. For a normal one bedroom apartment with a regular kitchen and bathroom, the rent can vary anywhere from $400 a month and up to as much as $2000 or more for a luxury apartment.
In most cases a security deposit equal to one half of a month's rent is required. These rental rates may or may not include utility bills, the costs of which vary by the tenants usage.
I have a friend that is renting an apartment close by. She was fortunate to find her apartment, in a very quiet building for only $520 a month. She pays an additional $25 a month for the added benefit of monitored, underground parking. Her building also offers other amenities such as air conditioning, cable internet access and an indoor swimming pool, which are available to everyone who lives there.
There are many apartments for rent that are often described as studio loft type apartments. These typically consist of one large room with a small kitchen and modest bathroom facilities. Rents for these type of apartments, which are really only suitable for one person, can range from $400 a month, up to $1000 or more a month.
The apartments that are often for rent in the lowest range are usually dark and damp basement apartments. These rentals are often in a less than ideal condition and often host bugs and insects that can create extreme health hazards. On occasion, the city will actually shut down such inhumane apartments and post warnings to the public about these unsuitable buildings.
The worst type of apartments to rent in this city are not really apartments. They are just single rooms, often located in big, old rundown rooming houses. These rooms attract people who often are shall we say, "on the other side of the law". Living in these rooms can be very dangerous and are almost always distgustingly dirty.
If you have enough money, there are apartments for rent that are larger than some houses you've seen. Of course, these apartments also boast a rental costs most of us would not dream of, often in the $3000+ range a month. These units offer the best money can buy and may even offer a work out facility for use by the tenants in the building.
So too, some people have apartments for rent in their homes. Many of the bigger houses have even been changed to duplexes and even triplexes, since some of these homes are just too large to host only one family. The downside to living in one of these units is that the walls are often very thin, allowing all sounds to travel easily to other units located in the house.
The city offers a wide assortment of apartments for rent to suit any family situation and rental budget. If you do your research and put in the time, you will find an apartment you can live with.
